The Avengers: Endgame trailer is making the rounds online and fans have begun nitpicking for potential clues. Though the clip is not long, much can be packed into subtext and hint, and fans can take the smallest tidbit and spin a yarn. Is Captain Marvel in the Avengers: Endgame trailer?

Despite her upcoming role in the Avengers: Endgame movie, she does not appear in the trailer. 

The Endgame trailer shows, as was predicted in many ways, only the heroes who survived Avengers: Infinity War.

Though the title hints at the finality of the film for the first generation of heroes, none of the second generation was shown.

Captain Marvel is played by Brie Larson, and her symbol was used in the end-credits scene of Infinity War.

The Captain Marvel trailer, however, is full of familiar faces – including Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.

The Avengers: Endgame teaser does, however, give clues to the fates of other superheroes, even if Captain Marvel is not involved. 

Black Widow is blonde, Hawkeye returns (perhaps as Ronin), and it’s clear Captain America hasn’t forgotten Peggy.

For such a short video, there is a lot to unpack. 

AVENGERS 4 THEORY: WHEN DOES AVENGERS 4 TAKE PLACE?

Captain Marvel may be the last hope of the Avengers, summoned by Nick Fury via a dated looking pager. 

Whether she is part of the plan Captain America references in the Endgame teaser, however, is unconfirmed. 

Larson’s Captain Marvel may be integral to the next instalment of the Avengers saga, but her appearance may be no more than a cameo.

Her solo movie comes out a month prior to Avengers: Endgame, so fans have plenty to look forward to this coming spring. 

Captain Marvel is said to take over the role of face of the Avengers from Tony Stark, who appears heavily in the Endgame trailer.

The Russo Brothers, the directing team behind Infinity War and Endgame, released the trailer on their Twitter account today at 1pm GMT.

They wrote: “For those who have been here since the beginning. For those who have joined along the way.

“For the best fans in the Universe. This trailer is for you… With much love and gratitude for your patience, The RB’s.”

Fans have replied with memes and excitement, much as you would expect.

Avengers: Endgame is out in cinemas on April 26, 2019.
