Avengers Infinity War: Black Order actors in real life – who play the Children of Thanos?

The Children of Thanos – or the Black Order, if you prefer their comics-given name – are a seriously powerful cluster of terrifying henchmen, each with formidable abilities that consistently leave the Marvel heroes on the back food.

So who plays Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive – and what do they look like in real life?

They all provided the motion-capture performances for their Marvel characters, in addition to recording the voices.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Ebony Maw

Ebony Maw gets perhaps the most attention of the foursome, and his powers are huge.

Irish actor Vaughan-Lawlor, 40, gave the performance. He’s best known for playing Nidge in the Irish series Love/Hate, and he also made an appearance in a series one episode of Peaky Blinders.

Additional work has included the films The Cured, Maze and Becoming Jane; as well as three episodes of The Secret Agent alongside Toby Jones and Micky McClure.

Carrie Coon as Proxima Midnight

Coon, 37, is an Emmy-nominated actress, best known for her work in HBO drama series The Leftovers, as well as the FX series Fargo.

You may also recognise her as Ben Affleck’s on-screen sister Margo Dunne in the film adaptation of Gone Girl in 2014.

Furthermore, she’s a Tony-nominated stage actress, having worked on Broadway in Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?

Michael James Shaw as Corvus Glaive

Shaw is best known for his work in the TV adaptation of Limitless, in which he plays FBI Agent Daryl.

He also had an uncredited cameo as a homeless man in The Wire, and has been in the show Constantine.

This is easily the Juilliard-trained actor’s most high-profile role to date.

Terry Notary as Cull Obsidian

Notary, 48, is no stranger to stunts and motion capture. He’s previously portrayed animals and creatures in the likes of Avatar and the Planet of the Apes reboot series.

He also worked with mo-cap on last year’s Kong: Skull Island, plus the Hobbit trilogy, on which he was also a stunt co-ordinator and movement coach.
