Avengers Infinity War: Scarlett Johansson speaks out on Black Widow solo movie

Promoting the upcoming Marvel movie on Ellen DeGeneres’ US talkshow, Johansson was quizzed on recent chatter surrounding a Black Widow solo story – which has been demanded by many fans for quite some time now.

“I think there’s room for it,” the actress said.

“The only way to do it was if it was something we’d never seen before that was groundbreaking and incredibly badass.

“But I think if anything could make that happen, my boss Kevin Feige could. He’s a visionary.”

She added: “It could be something very special. The character has a tortured past to say the least.

“She’s had to make a lot of difficult decisions and she’s got trauma – and she’s got issues!”

Earlier this week it was rumoured that it would be a prequel story, involving the Winter Solider.

Sebastian Stan recently said of the two characters: “They have a very nice history in my opinion. It’s very intricate…the truth is he actually taught her in the comic books.

“He was a teacher to her. It’s all set during a specific, interesting time. The Cold War.

“It’s all a very… spy, thrillerish, noirish story…it would be very interesting to explore that on film. I would love if they do that.”

Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, is out on Thursday in the UK.
