Avengers Infinity War: Where is Valkyrie? Is she dead? Will she be in Avengers 4?

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD – Do not read on if you have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War.

The fact that Hawkeye is MIA seems to be a deliberate tactic by the Russo brothers and Marvel ahead of Avengers 4; whilst Captain Marvel was never expected to show up prior to her solo movie, and Ant-Man’s absence can be explained by Paul Rudd being busy filming this summer’s Ant-Man And The Wasp.

But what about Valkyrie?

The character, played by Tessa Thompson, made a big impression on fans in Thor: Ragnarok last year, and was last seen on the Asgardians’ ship at the end of that movie.

But at the top of Infinity War, just about everyone on that ship was dead.

Hulk was spared by Heimdall and Thor was found by the Guardians of the Galaxy, but Heimdall and Loki were both assassinated along with everyone else.

Valkyrie – along with the likes of Korg – was not seen or heard of at all. So did she escape?

The short answer is nobody knows – and interestingly Avengers 4 is not on Thompson’s IMDb page, so if she is in the sequel, she certainly hasn’t been officially announced or even seen during filming.

An entry on her MCU Wiki did, according to Inverse.com, at one point say that a body wearing her costume was seen in the opening scene of Infinity War, but this has since been removed.

So either Valkyrie escaped, or we’re expected to accept that she was among the dead.

If the latter, it’s odd that Thor did not mention her at all – not even in his heartfelt monologue discussing everybody he’s recently lost.

Then again, if Chris Hemsworth exits the MCU in Avengers 4 – as some theories suggest – then we may never hear him speak or meet her again, which also seems like a waste.

Caught up in the mystery, fans have been complaining on Twitter about the fact she has seemingly been forgotten.

“valkyrie in avengers 4 or we riot,” one person quipped.

“I better see Valkyrie and Korg during Avengers 4 or I’m going to throw fists @ Marvel,” wrote someone else.

“Two characters who weren’t in #InfinityWar who absolutely should’ve been are Valkyrie and Korg, they should’ve been shown or at least find out what happened to them! #Avengers #ThorRagnarok,” a third fan wrote.

For now, Avengers: Infinity War has set up a host of other questions to answer – such as who among the dead will be returning?
