Barbara Windsor at 80 – Her most memorable Carry On moments
The star turns 80 this year after seven decades in show business, debuting in 1954’s The Belles of St Trinian’s.
It was just last year that she finished playing Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders, having starred in the soap since 1994.
However it’s the Carry On movies that she’s most remembered for, so here are some of her best moments from those movies.
Carry On Camping – The bikini scene
This has to be the scene of all her roles that she’s most famous for.
During the 1969 film, Babs is taking part in an exercise class led by Kenneth Williams at a camp site, with the likes of Sid James watching on, only for her bikini to accidentally fly off.
In a recent interview, Windsor revealed the truth about the scene, explaining that she was terrified to go topless.
Carry On Again Doctor – Dr Nookey’s ‘examination’
Another iconic scene saw Jim Dale’s Dr Nookey having to examine Barbara’s Goldie Locks.
The unsuspecting doctor walks into a room to find Barbara not leaving much to the imagination, as Hattie Jacques’ disapproving Matron looks on.
Carry On Spying – Gun holster scene
Barbara’s first ever Carry On in 1964 saw her play Daphne Honeybutt, a secret agent.
In one scene Bernard Cribbins is asked by her to help put on her gun holster.
However after a few struggled attempts his bashful character says, “I think you’d best keep it in your handbag Dafne.”
