Be Momentful launches new competition for best short film capturing 'emotional connection’
Be Momentful is giving people in lockdown the chance to try out their short film skills and win a share of £8,000 with an exciting new short film competition. Be Momentful is the app which allows users to create “moments” and share them with others as mini greetings, and in the middle of a pandemic, the ability to create and maintain human connection is more important than ever. In order to win a share of £8,000 applicants must do their utmost to capture what it means to be emotionally connected to people with Be Momentful.
Social distancing has meant it’s never been as important to show people that you are thinking about them and send love and support.
Be Momentful has seen the downloads and usage of their moment sharing app skyrocket since the coronavirus swept across the world.
The competition is a way of rewarding users, and applicants don’t have to be professionals to enter.

The beauty of this film competition is in its simplicity. Applicants are being tasked with showing what it means to send and receive a moment from the Be Momentful app, and can use any medium.
1616 media boss Tim Bleszynski, which owns Be Momentful, explained why they came up with the competition.
“The beauty of today’s smartphone driven world is that anyone can make a film with ease and upload it and share online,” he said.
“Every day we see filmed moments, animations with toys and drawings. Our society is driven by people-filmed content.

“So in this time of lockdown we wanted to give everyone the chance to win a special prize just for doing what they do on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. It’s just that this time they’ll have a chance to win a share of £8,000.”
Your entry will be judged by the great and good of the filmmaking world.
Be Momentful has brought together an impressive roster of Hollywood talent to judge the competition too, so hopefuls will really have an opportunity to express their talents to the cream of the crop in the filmmaking world.
Jack Giarraputo, the co-founder of Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison Productions, will be leading the way.

Ocean’s 8 producer Mike Tadross joins him, along with Billy Elliot editor John Wilson.
Wilson insisted participants don’t need to have a steep budget, and simplicity could be the key.
“What we’re looking for as judges are films that demonstrate creating an emotional connection between two people,” Wilson shared. “It could be a moment that makes us laugh or cry or just touches us in some way.
“This isn’t about Hollywood production qualities, it’s about authentic human stories of people reaching out to each other during lockdown with a moment from the Be Momentful app.”
