Billy Connolly reveals which actor he wants to play him in biopic after Parkinson's update
Billy Connolly has apparently given some thought to who would be the best option for playing him in a film about his life. Speaking in a video with Castle Fine Art, a gallery where he is currently showing some of his artwork, the comedian was confident about his choices. The Glaswegian stand-up legend proposed fellow Scot Robert Carlyle, praising his acting talents.
“Robert Carlyle. he’s a Scottish actor. He’s brilliant,” he said.
Connolly went on to suggest his close friend Tony Roper as another actor who could take on the role of playing him in a potential biopic.
“Or another Scottish actor called Tony Roper,” he added. “He knows me really well.
“Whichever one of them wasn’t doing anything at the time,” he quipped.

Connolly and Roper have been friends since they worked at a bakery in Glasgow together.
They have remained close since making it big in showbiz.
Carlyle is best known for his roles in The Full Monty and Trainspotting.
Elsewhere, Connolly sadly announced he was retiring from stand-up in a recent interview with Sky News, during which he spoke out about the progression of his Parkinson’s.

The lauded comedian said he was “finished” with comedy because the Parkinson’s didn’t allow his brain to work the same way it used to.
“You need a good brain for comedy,” he explained. “I’m finished with stand-up.
“It was lovely and it was lovely being good at it. It was the first thing I was ever good at.”
Connolly said Parkinson’s had made his brain “work differently” and that he sometimes struggles with the symptoms.

“I’ll get upset because certain things go wrong, your brain goes adrift and affects your body,” he said. “And you walk differently. You walk like a drunk man sometimes,
“And you’re frightened you’ll be judged on it. And you shake sometimes.
“Sometimes you can’t get your money into your wallet — your change — and the waiter has to take it from you and put it in.”
But still Connolly refuses to let his condition define him
The Big Yin was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 2013, on the same day he learned he had prostate cancer.
He soon had an operation for the cancer and had since received the all-clear.
Parkinson’s is a progressive nervous system disorder which affects movement, commonly causing stiffness or slowing of movement and tremors.
As of yet, there isn’t a cure for the disease but there are medications which can help improve the symptoms.
