Birds of Prey poster: First look at Harley Quinn movie revealed
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is the long-anticipated follow up to Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie is back as Harley Quinn, though she has departed from Jared Leto’s Joker to do things on her own. And she is not alone, as the new Birds of Prey poster suggests.
In Birds of Prey, and since the events of Suicide Squad, Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime.
Harley Quinn, meanwhile, has left the Joker, and owns forces with other anti-heroes in Gotham to help protect Cassandra Cain, a young girl who comes across a diamond belonging to the crime lord Black Mask.
In the new post, Harley Quinn can be seen daydreaming, as is her regular way of being, with other little birds flying around her.
As well as a bird version of herself, Harley Quinn can see Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who plays Black Canary, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress.
Huntress is sporting all black leather as she holds a gun, while Black Canary is doing a pretty impress high kick with some major heels on.
Rosie Perez, who pays Renee Montoya, can be seen preparing to punch someone up, while Victor Zsasz, played by Chris Messina, looks dazed as he seemingly prepares to carve up his next victim, which is his forte.
Cassandra Cain, played by Ella Jay Basco, looks innocent as she simps on a drink in little shorts and with untied laces, while Ewan McGregor’s fiendish Black Mask looks ready to torture as he stares up at Harley Quinn in a very tight, white suit.
Harley, meanwhile, has not a care in the world as her large wings and colourful outfit stand out among the crows, and she holds her favourite hammer in hand.
Across Harley’s neck, along with a large necklace, are the words “mind over mayhem,” meaning perhaps we will see a slightly more demure Harley in this film?
It seems unlikely she will be anything short of a crazed criminal, as he know her and love her.
According to Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, the criminal “needs friends,” hence the idea which was pitched by Robbie ahead of the success of Suicide Squad.
She told Warner Bros executives there should be “an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film.”
Harry was the most popular of the Suicide Squad team, as it seems none of the rest of the squad will be appearing in Birds of Prey.
And as for the emancipation of Harley, Jared Leto has not been listed as a cast member of this film, though perhaps the Joker will try and find his Harley again?
Birds of Prey is in cinemas from February 6, 2020
