Bohemian Rhapsody: Rami Malek had his GOLDEN Freddie Mercury teeth on him at Golden Globes

Surprise Golden Globe winner Malek seemed to have a lucky charm on his person when accepting his award for Best Actor in a Drama film. Malek wore false front teeth, to match Freddie Mercury who was born with four additional incisors. The Queen singer famously never had them removed as they allowed for a wider range in his singing, thanks to the extra space in his mouth. And since Bohemian Rhapsody wrapped, Malek had his prop ones cast in gold, keeping them literally close to his heart at the Golden Globes ceremony.

Sitting down to an interview with ET back stage after his win, Malek revealed why he had them encased in gold.

The actor said: “Not only did I save them, I cast them in gold. And that’s not something I would normally do.

“But I thought, what is the most audacious, ostentatious thing Freddie would do?”

Pointing to his Golden Globe, he added: “And so now I have a counter-part for Freddie’s teeth.”

When asked where the teeth were now, Malek said: “I don’t want to say where the teeth are, because then I feel like people are gonna come after the teeth.”

He then patted his chest saying they were there, but the interviewer thought he meant metaphorically in his heart.

Malek surprised her adding: “They’re in my pocket. I’m not gonna take them out but they’re there”, before letting her feel.

During his acceptance speech before the interview, he gave special thanks to Queen and Freddie.

Malek said: “And of course [thanks] to Queen.

“To you Brian May and you Roger Taylor for ensuring that authenticity and inclusivity exists in the music and in the world and in all of us.

“I love you, you beautiful man. This is for and because of you gorgeous.”

Having won the Best Drama Actor gong at the globes, Malek will now be the favourite for the Oscar, alongside Best Musical or Comedy Actor winner Christian Bale.
