Bohemian Rhapsody: Will Freddie Mercury star Rami Malek be NEXT James Bond villain?

Rami Malek is the undisputed hero of the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. Despite the film’s middling performance with critics, fans have loved the film and Malek as Mercury in particular. Having played Freddie Mercury so well, Malek’s status as a multidimensional actor has been solidified. But he may be best known, and loved, as the anti-establishment hacker Elliot Anderson from Mr Robot.

Is Rami Malek being eyed as the next James Bond villain?

The best answer we have so far is a solid maybe but the rumour mill keeps on spinning.

According to Variety, the Mr Robot and Bohemian Rhapsody star has been eyed as the villain in Bond 25.

Citing The Daily Mail, Variety wrote: “According to insiders, Rami Malek was being eyed for the villain role, but his schedule on the last season of Mr Robot, which shoots from March through July, makes it unlikely that he will be able to take the gig, even if Eon offered him the part.”

According to inside sources, production on Bond 25 is set to begin at Pinewood Studios on March 4.

Bond 25’s eponymous star Daniel Craig is currently working on Rian Johnson’s thriller Knives Out.

Meanwhile, Bond 25’s director is putting finishing touches on the Bond 25 script.

The work done by Danny Boyle on the project has reportedly been abandoned in favour of a new script.

Variety claims insiders say producers have already started fleshing out Bond 25’s ensemble cast.

Lea Seydoux is reprising her role as psychologist Madeleine Swann for the James Bond sequel, which will be Craig’s final outing as James Bond.

Eon, the production company behind Bond, is reportedly looking for two other actresses.

The two would play an MI6 agent who works with Bond and another has yet to be confirmed.

These are in addition to the Bond villain, and though Malek may be high on the list, his previous engagements may prevent him from joining the spy cast.

Mr Robot will end after four seasons and show creator Sam Esmail released the following statement regarding the end of the series:
