Boris Johnson to secure 'mega-deal' with EU as ruthless Prime Minister's tactics revealed
The next stage of Brexit will see Boris Johnson attempting to secure a trade agreement with the EU by the end of 2020. The EU has insisted the UK must abide by their demands to ensure Britain does not undercut the bloc in world trade. Speaking on Brexit: The Final Countdown podcast, Express.co.uk’s Paul Baldwin backed the Prime Minister to secure a mega trade deal with the European Union.
Mr Baldwin said regarding the Prime Minister: “He understands the deadline for a start and he is nothing if not a pragmatist.
“If there are negotiations and deals to be done then I just feel that he is the man in the way Theresa May was not.”
Podcast host Rebecca Hutson replied: “With that then we’re saying that Boris’s outright refusal and manifesto promise not to extend the deadline at the end of the transition period will work. You are confident that he will whip up a mega-deal that doesn’t involve importing or exporting trees?”
Mr Baldwin said: “A lot of it is already in place. The withdrawal agreement is common sense, of course, we will do that.”

Paul Baldwin believes a no deal Brexit is unlikely
Ms Hutson responded: “So you’re an optimist, you’re backing Boris?”
Mr Baldwin said: “I am absolutely an optimist.”
Ms Hutson replied: “So you don’t think the threat of no deal is any stronger or still looming?”
Mr Baldwin concluded: “I think it has receded from where it was a few months ago.”
Britain will leave the EU on January 31st
Yesterday Brexit Party MEP Alexandra Phillips unleashed a scathing attack on the European Union during an interview with talkRADIO’s Mike Graham.
Ms Phillips claimed the European Union was “deliberately made to be anti-democratic”, admitting she was “revolted” by the Brussels political system.
Ms Phillips said: “It is anti-democratic, not undemocratic but deliberately made to be anti-democratic. That is what I find revolting. When the massive economic crisis happened, the Eurozone crisis and everyone saw the way the EU treated countries such as Italy and Greece.
“Essentially saying to democratically elected leaders sorry because you’re probably going to want to leave the euro to devalue your currency and get back on your feet we can’t have that because it is going to threaten the project. We are going to have to remove you and impose such strident austerity.”

Ms Phillips labelled the EU anti-democratic
In the latest Brexit developments on Wednesday Boris Johnson’s Government rejected amendments made by the House of Lords to his Brexit bill in a defiant message to Brexit saboteurs.
Tory MPs voted to throw out the amendments in a show of unity against frustrating the UK’s exit.
In a show of strength, the Government reversed five changes made by the Lords to the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill as the legislation entered the “ping-pong” phase where it moves between the two Houses until an agreement is reached.
Rebel peers had defeated the Government on the rights of EU workers legally residing in the UK to have physical proof of their right to remain and the power of courts to depart from European Court of Justice rulings.
But the proposed changes were comfortably reversed by MPs, with majorities ranging from 86 to 103.
