Does Ronan the Accuser return in Captain Marvel?

Yes, and if you look closely you can catch a glimpse of him in the Captain Marvel trailer.

In the aftermath of an explosion, the shot changes to one of Ronan the Accuser, looking down at the Earth.

Captain Marvel’s photos, released last week to Entertainment Weekly, showed Ronan standing beside fellow Kree, Mar-Vell.

But those who know Ronan the Accuser know him to be a villain.

Who is Ronan the Accuser?

Cast your mind back to 2014 and the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie’s main villain.

Guardians of the Galaxy begins in 1988 – a young Peter Quill has been abducted from Earth by space pirates who call themselves the Ravagers.

Fast forward twenty-six years and Quill has got himself into trouble after stealing an orb desired by a Kree fanatic.

That Kree fanatic is none other than Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace.

Pace reprised his role for Captain Marvel, albeit as a less villainous warrior.

The Captain Marvel movie will focus on the Kree-Skrull war, with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers caught in the middle.

Many think the Captain Marvel plot will detail Ronan’s journey from Kree soldier to extremist against the backdrop of the alien conflict.

During Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan was killed by Peter, Gamora (Zoe Saldana ), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper).

However, Captain Marvel’s 1990s setting gives writers a chance to flesh out his character.

How big of a role Ronan will have in the upcoming Captain Marvel film remains to be seen, given how brief of a shot he had in the trailer.
