Captain Marvel: How old is Nick Fury in the Captain Marvel movie?

Captain Marvel is set to the be the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe once Avengers 4 is released and the current generation of heroes retires.

But Captain Marvel’s solo movie is set long before the events of Infinity War.

With the time jump to the past, fans may expect to see a few familiar faces and they would be right – just not how they imagined.

How old is Nick Fury in the Captain Marvel movie?

Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and follows the course of Air Force officer Carol Danvers.

Played by Brie Larson, Danvers acquires superhuman powers when her DNA is fused with her Kree-alien co-officer’s during an explosion.

As soon as she becomes a superhero, it seems likely Nick Fury will make an appearance.

Marvel’s head Kevin Feige said Samuel L Jackson (and Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson) will both feature but be de-aged throughout the movie.

The move should be interesting, but also invites a keener scrutiny of the movie overall.

Feige spoke to Slashfilm about the possibility of de-ageing in the MCU and let slip a bit of Captain Marvel insight.

“I think having the option is pretty amazing,” he said.

“And I think having the technology and even without spoiling anything, Sam Jackson is shooting a movie for us right now where he’s entirely 25 years younger the whole movie.

“And Coulson [Clark Gregg].

“So that’ll be the first one where it’s a character for the whole movie, as opposed to a glimpse at a certain period of time.

“It’s the whole movie. So it’s possible, assuming that works. It’s possible”, he added.

AVENGERS 4: DID DOCTOR STRANGE TIME TRAVEL TO JOIN CAPTAIN MARVEL?

The move is both bold and risky, and while fans may be gratified to see their favourites they may also dislike the added CGI which allows them to be younger versions of themselves.

Set images have been released which appear to show three dots on Jackson’s forehead, which will likely be used to CGI-away the few wrinkles Sam has.

He also appears with hair and two working eyeballs – sans eyepatch – and likely the same attitude.

Critical response is still a long way off, but you can expect plenty of fan fervour around the Captain Marvel solo movie.

Captain Marvel is due to be released on Friday, March 8, 2019.
