Captain Marvel movie PHOTO: First look at Minn-Erva from star Gemma Chan

The star has seemingly finished filming her parts for the upcoming Marvel caper, which is due out in early 2019.

She’s playing Doctor Minerva, a Kree geneticist, whose alter ego is Minn-Erva.

In the comics, se is the enemy of rogue Kree agent Captain Mar-Vell, played here by Jude Law.

Given that Mar-Vell is Carol Danvers’ (Captain Marvel) mentor, it seems Chan could be going toe-to-toe against Brie Larson’s titular hero.

Chan captioned her pic: “Thanks for the ride. @Marvel #captainmarvel #marvelstudios #marvel #bts #thatsawrap.”

The Humans star seems to have a new look for the part; sporting much shorter and differently-styled hair.

Captain Marvel has been filming for much of 2018, with the cast shooting on the day of the Avengers: Infinity War premiere back in April.

Other stars include Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Annette Bening in a mystery role.

Larson recently told E!: “She’s [Captain Marvel] so strong – she can move planets.

“So for me, it was like – ‘how far can I go with this strength?’”

Asked what fans should expect, she mused: “They should get excited. I’m really proud of what we’re making.

“I really think all the hype and anticipation will be worth it.”

The film will be set in the 1990s, with Larson then reprising her role in Avengers 4 – due out next Spring.

Captain Marvel is out in the UK on March 8, 2019.
