Captain Marvel TWO end credit scenes EXPLAINED: Avengers Endgame link?

Every Marvel fan knows never to leave their seat until the screen has gone completely black. Back when the very first preview screenings dropped, social media teasers confirmed there were two scenes after Captain Marvel ends and one “very emotional” opening scene. As always with multiple end credit scenes, one is far more integral to the ongoing storylines and one is rather more of a fan-pleasing treat. WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FROM HERE

Marvel fans will dissect every frame of the first end credits scene which directly links into the main event in April.

It shows the main Avengers lab, where Black Wido, Captain America, rhodes and Brude Banner are watching the Snap death toll keep rising. Nick Fury’s rediscovered pager has been set up to keep emitting that signal to Captain Marvel. Suddenly it goes dead and Black Widow tells Bruce Banner to do whatever it takes to get it working. 

It turn out it stopped because its job was done as Captain Marvel suddenly appears and asks: “Where’s Fury?” So, how much does it really reveal about Avengers Endgame?

Is it worth the wait?

CAPTAIN MARVEL REVIEW: DISAPPOINTING AND NOT THE GAME-CHANGER WE HOPED FOR

To be frank, the scene shows nothing we didn’t already know and simply expands on what has already been shown in the Endgame trailers. We knew who the pager had called and that she would be part of the Infinity War sequel.

The scene is exciting in the sense that it raises anticipation for what is to come, but it doesn’t actually have anything that moves the story forward. It does, however, indicate that Captain Marvel will be part of the main plot from very early on, rather than making a grand, game-changing appearance later in the movie.

As for the final credit scene, it involves a certain crowd-pleasing cat…

Goose has been revealed to be a hugely dangerous alien called a Flerken. In between killing and eating numerous baddies, it also swallowed the Tesseract whole.

The final scene shows the cat jumping up onto Fury’s desk and coughing like it is bringing up a hairball. Instead, of course, a rather wet and slimy Tesseract it hacked up.

It’s a cute, playful moment mixing the most mundane with a truly cosmic revelation, as well as confirming how the artifact ended up in SHIELD’s possession. 

The bonus opening scene before the movie starts is a very moving compilation of Stan Lee moments from the MCU as well as some intimate shots of the great man in action.
