Captain Marvel: Will there be a sequel to Captain Marvel? What does end credit scene mean?

Captain Marvel is the twenty first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson stars as Danvers, who becomes Captain Marvel after Earth gets caught in the middle of a galactic battle between two alien worlds in 1995. This is also Marvel Studios’ first superhero film with a female lead.

Will there be a sequel to Captain Marvel? 

There are a few moments in the movie that suggest fans could see Brie Larson’s protagonist hit the screens on her own again. 

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige even hinted this could happen during a recent interview with Screen Rant.

He said: “The making of a first film is in some ways a brainstorm on the future and on what can be.

“So what it will be again is not clear. But what it could be is pretty amazing.”

What does the end credit scene tell us?

The movie ends with Carol heading into space with the surviving Skrull refugees, who are part of the alien worlds.

This helps them find a new home in the galaxy after they had to leave Fury with a pager allowing him to call her back in an emergency.

Samuel L Jackson also stars as Nick Fury, the future director of S.H.I.E.L.D in the film.

He seemed to be keen to reunite with his co-star Brie for a sequel in an interview with RadioTimes. 

He said: “Oh, of course, definitely. I think it’d be interesting to see what their dynamic is with the not-so kinder, gentler Fury, and her.”

But in a different interview, the Hollywood star admitted that Captain Marvel can jump through time.

This means there could be many different ways she could turn up in both Endgame and her own sequel.

He said: “At some point, we’ll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she’s capable of.

“She’s one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel.”
