Damascus Cover release date: When is Damascus Cover out in the cinema in the UK and USA?

Damascus Cover is based on a 1977 book of the same name by Howard Kaplan.

The film has already had its world premiere on September 23, 2017, at the Boston Film Festival.

Since then, Damascus Cover has garnered several awards including the best actor award for Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

When is Damascus Cover out in the cinema in the UK and USA?

Damascus Cover had its USA release on July 20, 2018 but is not yet out in the UK.

The true-life spy thriller was shot in Casablanca and arrives in UK cinemas August 3, 2018

However, for fans wanting a bit more action and insight, there will be a special screening at the Rio Cinema in Dalston, London featuring a Q&A with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and director Daniel Berk.

The special screening is on July 31, 2018.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Mission Impossible III, The Tudors) plays the lead Ari Ben-Zion in the spy thriller which comes to UK cinemas August 3, 2018.

The cast also includes Olivia Thirlby (Juno, Dredd), Navid Negahban (Homeland, American Sniper) and Jurgen Prochnow (Das Boot, Dune).

And, of course, John Hurt in his last ever role.

Like any good spy movie, the plot is slightly complicated and overtly politically relevant.

The plot centres on Ari Ben-Zion (Meyers), an Israeli spy haunted by the death of his son.

After a failed attempt to bring a mole back to Israel alive, Zion is recalled to Jerusalem.

Now unsure how many of their operatives have been exposed, Mossad tasks Ari with smuggling a chemical weapons scientist out of Syria.

Ari is, however, lonely and while in Damascus he meets Kim (Thirlby), a young American photographer who offers him some company.

However, it is a spy thriller and within days of Ari’s arrival, the mission goes wrong.

In a bid to survive Ari contacts a deep cover agent code-named The Angel.

Ari soon discovers that he is a pawn in a much bigger plan that will change him forever.

The spy film has a run time of 98 minutes, making it a welcome break from the longer Marvel movies of late.

Damascus Cover has a certificate 15 rating, which means the movie is suitable only for those 15 and over.
