Deadpool 2 cameos: Did you spot X-Men villain Mister Sinister?

The Marvel supervillain is yet to show up in an X-Men movie, but there were some big hints of his presence in Deadpool 2.

First off Firefist’s orphanage for Mutant Rehabilitation is called Essex House.

Fans will recognised the name Essex as that of Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister.

And like the staff at Essex House he enjoys experimenting on mutants.

This is an obvious hint of his involvement in running such an establishment, but did he secretly cameo?

After all Screen Rant pointed out that when a member of staff at Essex House is shot in the head, the bullet-hole leaves a wound in the shape of a diamond.

This is the trademark insignia of Mister Sinister, and often the way he’s revealed in the comics as having been in disguise.

It’s unlikely he would have died without being revealed, but perhaps this was the supervillain in some form.

Deadpool 2 isn’t the first time he’s been referenced in an X-Men movie.

In the end credits sequence of X-Men Apocalypse a suitcase containing vials of Wolverine’s blood is shown labelled Essex Corps.

These vials were used to create Wolverine’s female clone, X-23, who appeared in Logan last year.

In the comics Mister Sinister is a scientist from the 19th century who is given immortality by Apocalypse – a recent villain in the movies – after joining him as one of his Four Horsemen.

WAS AN X-MEN/AVENGERS CROSSOVER TEASED IN DEADPOOL 2?

Whatever the case it seems likely Mister Sinister will be popping up in future X-Men movies.

Perhaps he’ll show up in some form in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is released next year.
