Deadpool 2 vs Avengers Infinity War: Which Marvel movie had the most post-credit scenes?

Avengers: Infinity War catapulted into cinemas, with the combination of several Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises.

Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, Dr Strange and Black Panther were treated to two hours and 40 minutes of non-stop action, culminating in an epic cliffhanger.

However, the release of Deadpool 2 has shaken things up at the box office, with Ryan Reynolds’ anti-hero becoming the second biggest R-rated film for a domestic opening weekend.

Knocking Avengers off the top spot, Deadpool 2 brought in $301million from the USA and around the world in its opening weekend alone.

Whilst Avengers: Infinity War arguably takes itself a lot more seriously than Deadpool 2, both films are part of the Marvel Universe and follow the Marvel pattern.

Marvel fans know that when the credits begin to roll, the film is not quite over with Marvel films teasing the next installment with post-credit scenes.

However one of the two epic films took the post-credits scene to the next level.

WARNING SPOILERS FROM HERE

Which film had the most post-credit scenes?

Avengers fans enjoyed the typical single post-credits scene, with Nick Fury and Agent Hill managing to warn someone who could save the universe after the world around them began to collapse.

Both Fury and Hill fade away, but manage to communicate with an unseen character – leading the next few Avengers movies down the path of Captain Marvel, who is due to have her own film released on March 8, 2019.

Deadpool however, did not settle for one post-credit scene and boasts five post-credit scenes.

The first of the scenes saw Negasonic fix Cable’s time travelling device, which is the catalyst for the next four scenes.

The next scenes see Deadpool travel through time to potentially save Vanessa and save Peter, two characters who died in Deadpool 2.

From then on Deadpool tugs on the humour of those who enjoy Marvel films.

Travelling to the X-Men universe, Deadpool visits the version of Deadpool that starred in 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, killing him with the comment: “Just cleaning up the timeline.”

Many fans were upset at the portrayal of Deadpool in X-Men, as he appeared with his mouth sewn shut, and blades fashioned after that of Wolverine.

In another twist in the final scene, Deadpool travels back in time to the moment in 2011 Ryan Reynolds received the script for Green Lantern.

Green Lantern famously flopped, and despite 2011’s Reynolds appearing excited to receive the script, Deadpool shoots him in the head quipping “You’re welcome Canada.”

With these five out of the box post-credit scenes Deadpool 2 lives up to its humorous, wacky reputation – keeping fans on their toes and laughing in their seats.

Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War are in cinemas now.
