Disney Plus best movies: Which Disney movie is the UK favourite? Top five
Disney has the most incredible way of depicting our favourite stories and fairy tales. Some of the most classic and moving tales have been brought to life through animation or live-action remakes thanks to the film studio. But according to Brits, which is the best Disney movie to snuggle up with during the lockdown?

According to research analysed by OnBuy.com, The Lion King is the favourite classic animated Disney movie in the UK.
The 1994 movie, which has since been remade into a “live-action” movie, sees young Simba (voiced by Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Matthew Broderick) struggle with the notion of becoming king, especially after the death of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones.)
He leaves the comfort of Pride Rock and lives a worry-free life with his new-found friends, Timon and Pumbaa (Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella.)
However, when his uncle Scar (Jeremy Irons) decimates his father’s legacy, he must return and take his rightful place.
What are the best movies on Disney Plus?
The movie has been loved by generations, as have those completing the top five.
In second place is 1992’s Aladdin, which sees a young “street rat” fall in love with a princess and, with the help of his Genie friend, tries to become something he is not to impress her.
The third film favourite on the list is Beauty and the Beast, from 1991, which, like Aladdin, has also been made into a live-action film.
Beauty and the Beast’s live-action movie cast was lead by Harry Potter star Emma Watson, with Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens as the Beast, though he was thoroughly covered in CGI hair.

Aladdin’s live action movie had a juggernaut of the big screen as the Genie – Will Smith – and his portrayal was different to that of his voice-cast predecessor, Robin Williams.
The Jungle Book from 1967 comes in fourth place, which again sees a young outsider trying to fit in where he does not belong.
Young Mowgli, who has been abandoned in the jungle, is raised by wolves and makes friends with a loveable bear, though a fearsome tiger is looking to kill him.
Finally, the 1941 movie Dumbo has entered the charts in the fifth position, which tells the story of a young elephant in the circus who wants to learn to fly.

Many of these stories are based on children’s novels and fairy tales, and all of these stories have been made in live-action formats in the last 10 years.
Clearly, there was a great appetite for these stories to be put back on the big screen, in whatever way fans could engage with it.
All of these movies, plus more, are available to stream on Disney Plus, Disney’s new streaming service which costs £5.99 a month for Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar and National Geographic content.
The Disney Plus platform has also recently launched the entirety of The Simpsons.
