The body found in a sports bag on a housing estate is rumoured to belong to a teenager who has not been seen for several days according to the Mirror. The discovery of the body parts, which included only the arms and legs, was stumbled upon by local youths who quickly reported it to police

The torso and the head are both still missing, the Daily Star reports, and officers are now desperately trying to locate other body parts in the vicinity.

The gruesome discovery was made by youths at Moatview Gardens in Coolock at 10 pm on Monday night.

Sinn Fein TD Denise Mitchell described the barbaric find as “distressing and horrific” and suggested the Garda (local police force) urgently need more resources

She said: “The people of Coolock and the wider Dublin Bay North area have been subjected to fear and intimidation by these drug gangs for too long, but this is a particularly grisly chapter.

“This incident really drives home the need for greater Garda resources in the area. Gardai in Coolock station are overstretched as it is. How many more deaths and brutal incidents such as this must be inflicted upon local residents until they get the help they need?”

The fact that the head has still not been uncovered highlights that this was a deliberate fear-mongering tactic from gangs.

One line of inquiry centers on a naive teenager linked to one of the feuding drug mobs in Drogheda who have been waging a violent turf war in recent months.

The youth was said to have contacts with the faction behind an attempted hit in the town on Monday which left an innocent taxi driver injured.

The intended target was a leading member of one of the gangs who escaped unhurt and it is feared his mob could have carried out the abduction and murder of the teenager.

It comes after 22-year-old Eoin Boylan was shot dead in the garden of his home in Coolock back in November as part of ongoing gangland turf wars

Racheal Batten, councillor for the Whitehall-Artane area, described the incident as a “shocking discovery”.

She said the police: “Simply aren’t resourced to deal with this level of crime.”

She has called on the Minister for Justice to declare “a state of emergency in north Dublin”.
