Eddie Howe responds to Callum Wilson to Man Utd transfer rumours – ‘It’s pointless’

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe thinks it is “pointless” to address the transfer rumours surrounding striker Callum Wilson and Manchester United.
The 41-year-old Cherries boss made it clear he had no intention of speaking about the reported interest from United with the January window still so far away.
Wilson left Coventry City to sign for Bournemouth back in 2014 in a deal reportedly worth around £3million.
Since then the striker has gone on to score 63 goals in 157 appearances in all competitions for the club.

The 27-year-old has been in fantastic form for Bournemouth in recent years and last summer was rewarded with a new four-year deal worth £100,000-a-week.
Last season the forward scored 14 goals and created 10 assists in 30 Premier League appearances.
And that consistency to find the back of the net has reportedly attracted the attention of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United are in the market for an additional striker after agreeing to sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer.

But when asked about reports of United’s interest in Wilson, Howe didn’t want to fuel the current speculation.
“To hear transfer links and rumours at this stage when the window is shut and a long way from being open,” Howe said.
“For me, it’s pointless talking about it.
“I take with a pinch of salt, to be honest, at this stage of the season.
“There’s nothing that we can do, that Callum can do, other than perform well.
“That influences rumours and things like that at this stage of the season.
“He’s just got to focus on his next game and give his best for this club.”
