El Camino age rating: How old should you be to watch El Camino? Is it suitable for teens?
El Camino is out on Netflix, and fans have clambered to the streaming service to watch it. Starring Aaron Paul, the movie shows Jesse Pinkman as he tries to find his way out of the tricky situation he has been left in. The film begins as Breaking Bad ends, so Jesse will have plenty of people on his tail as he tries to escape.

How old do you have to be to watch El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie?
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie has been classed a 15 certificate movie.
This means it can not be watched by anyone under the age of 15, even if they are accompanied by an adult.
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) have released details on why the film may be unsuitable for some teenagers – even if they are of the age of consent.
First, the film uses some unsavoury language, including multiple uses of strong language such as f**k.
Other bad language includes uses of b***h, s**t, d**k and son of a b***h.
As well as that, there is, needless to say, a great deal of violence shown in both flashback and in the present day as Jesse tries to make his escape.
The BBFC says: “There are some scenes of strong violence including the shooting of a couple of men with large blood spurts from the bullet impacts.”
Finally, as one might expect, there is a number of incidents which include drugs, including a group of men snorting cocaine from a mirror they pass around between them.
The BBFC continues: There are some scenes of gun threat, and threat to a man as he is held in a cage or made to run up and down to reach the limits of the chains restraining him.
“There are some sex references as a group of prostitutes arrive to spend time with a gang of men.”
The first scene mentioned here, about a man being held in a cage, is Jesse in flashback, as he is seen being tortured by Todd Alquist (Jesse Plemons.)
Todd wants to ensure Jesse can’t escape and so taunts him, forcing him to pull the chains and run around while they hold him back.
Is El Camino suitable for teenagers?
As made clear in the classification, it should not be watched by teenagers under the age of 15.
However, for those 15 or above, it is for the parents to decide whether the content of El Camino is appropriate for them to see.
As the feature is only two hours long, it may be that parents can watch it on Netflix in the comfort of their own homes before allowing their children to watch it, which would ensure any difficult moments can be skipped.
However, other than the violence, the film follows on from the series Breaking Bad, so it makes sense that teenagers, who may not have been old enough to enjoy the series, would find the terror of the film confusing as it would not be in the context of characters they recognise.
And those characters may be doing things which some teens find upsetting, so there are various reasons why parents may prefer to watch the film first.
Parents should, as with all films, practise caution and decide whether the film is suitable for their children.
