Fantastic Beasts 2 ending fan fury: JK Rowling's SHOCKING end scene secret plan REVEALED

The Fantastic Beasts sequel is already dividing fans. Everyone accepts that it is still early days in the five-film franchise, but is JK Rowling really undermining Harry Potter lore to force new plot twists? The end scene finally reveals the true identity of poor, tortured Credence Barebone. Fans had been speculating he could be related to Snape or even Voldemort and then the film sets up a Lestrange family connection. The ending, though, throws one of the biggest twists in Harry Potter history which fans are now convinced in impossible. Ezra Miller just explained what Rowling’s secret plan was all along.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT:

The end scene of the movie shows Gellert Grindelwald tell Credence that his real name is actually Aurelius Dumbledore. This means he is Albus’ brother or half-brother.

Fans have immediately pointed out that both Albus’ parents died long before and Credence is too young to be their child. This only leaves the possibility that he is the secret son of one of the Dumbledore siblings. Except Albus is gay, Aberforth is a confirmed bachelor and Ariana was killed aged 14.

Is JK Rowling really committing the cardinal sin of changing the established Harry Potter canon to suit her plot plans?

The first possibility is that Grindelwald is simply lying to win Credence’s truth.

Except, Miller gave a major new interview to EW and consistently refers to Credence/Aurelius as Albus’ blood, so this family story really is happening.

He said: “There’s an opportunity for me as an actor to look to five of my favorite performances of all time — the people I’ve seen play Albus and Aberforth. Shout out to all those incredible actors, and I’m thrilled to play the game that we’re now blood relations. It’s very fun.”

Note that he did not specify brother.

Miller also reassured fans that Rowling knows what she is doing and she is not breaking Potter canon – even though the inclusion of Professor MacGonnagal years before she was supposed to be born does exactly that.

Miller added: “She knows the mythology so well and I think she’s into confounding you for a moment and having a fan go, ‘wait that can’t make sense!’ and then showing you how things you thought couldn’t make sense make sense. I think she enjoys people not getting it for a second. She’s done it to us a bunch of times.”

Unfortunately fans will have to wait another two years to find out what the horcrux is going on.
