Florida terror: Three dead & multiple injured at Pensacola navy base – terror attack fears

The shooter, who is yet to be named, gunned down 14 victims, killing three, at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida at 8.30am local time. Locals said the attacker was “confirmed dead”, having turned the gun on himself. Police have launched a terror probe as a result of the tragic incident.

The man is believed to have been from Saudi Arabia.

The US Navy Twitter account tweeted about the shooting this morning.

The post read: “We are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at Naval Air Station Pensacola.”

The shooting came two days after an sailor opened fire at employed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard near Honolulu, Hawaii.

The US Navy also tweeted when first reports of the shooting came in.

They said: “#BREAKING: We are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at Naval Air Station Pensacola. More information to follow.”

They then announced the shooter was dead.

Up to five of those injured were rushed to Baptist Health Care in Pensacola.

Six more victims were taken to Ascension Sacred Heart.

Neither hospital has issued an update on the conditions of those injured.
