Frozen 2: Elsa actually KRISTOFF'S sister in family secret shock? Here's why…

Frozen 2 is set to arrive in UK cinemas later this month, with trailers teasing a darker tone for Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and Anna’s (Kristin Bell) next adventure. The first film, which was released in 2013, introduced Elsa’s magic as she took her place as Queen of Arendelle while struggling to learn how to come to terms with her own powers and with who she was. When Elsa accidentally left the land frozen in an eternal winter, Anna acquired a small gang, consisting of ice seller Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer pal Sven and Olaf the snowman, on her mission to bring Elsa back and save Arendelle.

Little is known about Kristoff and Sven’s backstory, though the best friends quickly became integral to the story of Disney‘s Frozen.

What fans do know so far is that Anna’s new beau was orphaned as a child, forming a close bond with a baby reindeer.

Together, they learn to make their way by joining the ice harvesters, which becomes Kristoff’s trade.

So, who exactly is Kristoff and who were his parents? One new trailer might have delivered the key to the loveable character’s history with the trolls. Let’s break this down…

While the late King had reddish hair and the Queen dark brunette, Anna seems to have inherited their colouring with the russet locks.

Elsa, meanwhile, stands out from the rest of her family with her bright platinum mane — seemingly pretty different genetics.

In the trailer released ahead of Frozen 2, fans have learned an enchanted forest once existed far to the north of Arendelle but that something happened in the past which stopped people being able to cross from that land to theirs.

If the people living on the other side of this magical barrier, which Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf look set to journey through in the upcoming sequel, are the ones with powers, then maybe the two blondes of the group could have been cut off from that realm — and possibly even their real family — when the divide occurred.

On top of all that, we may have got a peek at Kristoff’s (and Elsa’s) mother in one of the clips of the enchanted forest tribe: a young woman holding a baby reindeer who looks suspiciously like Sven when he was younger — the age he and his human pal ended up alone and fending for themselves.

Has this pivotal clue proved Kristoff’s connection to the royal family is much greater than fans previously thought?
