Frozen 2 trailer: Second clip teases new powers for Elsa as she faces fresh dangers
Frozen 2’s release date is fast approaching, with the sequel to the Disney favourite seeing Elsa (voiced by Edina Menzel), her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf (Josh Gad) embarking on a mission to save Arendelle.
In a new trailer, fans see the group heading North when Elsa hears a voice calling to her.
“Brace for adventure,” the trailer warns, as they meet magical challenges and mysterious beasts along the way.
It appears Elsa could be in danger of succumbing to the draw of powerful, darker magic, as Anna is warned: “Magic is very alluring without you, she may lose herself to it.”
Towards the end of the clip, however, Elsa seems to begin to unearth her full potential.
Shattering a huge glass window into tiny shards, she gathers them around her, looking awed by her own abilities, before raising her arms and shooting them up into the sky.
The screen then goes black, leaving Frozen fans to wonder the true extent of Elsa’s magical powers.
It’s not all doom and gloom in the new Frozen 2 trailer, which also features some classic Olaf comedy moments.
One shows Elsa, Anna and Kristoff lounging in the castle, presumably before all the jeopardy arises, and kicking back for a game of charades.
Standing in front of his pals, the cheerful snowman acts out a series of characters and Kristoff correctly guessing one after the other: “Unicorn! Teapot!”
Olaf then extends his arms and struts sassily towards them, a sultry look on his face, before doing a little shimmy uncannily similar to Elsa’s empowering transformation moment in the first film.
“Oooh, Elsa!” Kristoff cackles, much to Anna’s disapproval.
Frozen 2 is set three years after the events of the original movie and the trailers have already revealed Anna is concerned something is wrong with her sister.
In today’s new video, she asks her beau Kristoff: “Has Elsa seemed weird to you?”
Her elder sibling can be seen looking distracted and worried as she admits there’s a “voice” calling to her.
The group then go and visit the wise leader of the trolls who tells Elsa: “The kingdom is not safe.
“Find who is calling to you, they may have answers,” he says. “Go North, across the enchanted land and into the unknown.”
It’s been nearly six years since Frozen set the world alight, amassing a huge fanbase and also storming the charts with Elsa’s iconic song, Let It Go.
Menzel’s impassioned rendition peaked at number 11 and spent 70 weeks in the UK Single’s Chart.
It looks as though Frozen 2 is set for a darker tone than the first film as Elsa and her sister Anna face new threats while the former continues to find her place int he world and come to terms with her identity.
Frozen 2 will be released in UK cinemas Friday November 22 2019.
