Game of Thrones: Does Arya Stark DIE in massive book to show blunder? Here's the evidence

Fans are still pondering many of the unanswered questions surrounding the Game of Thrones season eight finale, which divided many.

They’re only intensifying as they get nearer and nearer to author George R.R. Martin finally releasing his last novel The Winds of Winter.

One new theory may have blown everything out of the water when it comes to Arya’s (played by Maisie Williams) storyline however, in claims the warrior is actually dead from season six onwards.

Fans last saw Arya saying goodbye to her siblings Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and sailing off into the West, with many stunned she managed to have some semblance of a happy ending.

Arya was even given the pivotal role of killing the evil dead Night King (Vladimir Furdik) in the Battle of Winterfell, which many thought would be King of the North Jon’s big move.

But what if the character was actually dead all along, all after coming in contact with the dangerous Waif girl?

Often talked-about as Arya’s strangest transition on the show, the character returned to her family a colder and harder fighter.

Seeming very different to the innocent Stark from the beginning of the series, fans were left puzzled over exactly what had happened to Arya.

Reddit user seedyProfessor has now suggested that Arya was murdered during her battle with The Waif in season six, and that her aggressor took her face and passed herself off as Arya for the rest of the series, thereby making sense of some of Arya’s later choices.

While the theory is one of the more farfetched ones since the show finished, there’s plenty of back up.

The main evidence to support the theory is that Arya’s determination to carry through her “kill list” progressively waned following her showdown with the Waif, and she let a number of her enemies get away.

The Hound (Rory McCann) and Arya almost even ended up friends by the season eight finale, whereas the youngster let her focus to exact vengeance on Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) dramatically slide.

Cersei eventually received her comeuppance regardless when she was indirectly killed by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and the destruction of her dragon Drogon, so Arya may have seen this coming and decided to stay well away.

The Reddit fan went on to assert: “She had a list of people to kill, that was supposed to later serve as a sacrifice to the Many-Faced God.

“In the books, she never gave up on this list.”

“In the series, she got to the Red Keep and the Hound turned her away telling her to be safe,” the fan continued. “Because it was dangerous to hunt Cersei.

“It reminded me of how The Hound was on her list too.

“I was burning with rage seeing Arya give up on two kills when it was supposed to be her life’s mission.”

The fan reiterated: “This just reinforces my Arya is the Waif theory.”
