The Doodle illustrates five homes with each letter staying indoors – reflecting the nationwide message to “stay home” to stop the spread of COVID-19. But it also reflects the importance of staying connected and motivated at a time of uncertainty.

The Doodle offers several suggestions of activities people can occupy themselves with during self-isolation and social distancing.

Some activities include reading a book which the capital G in Google is performing.

Other letters are playing music to keep their spirits high through the pandemic.

Another Doodle letter is staying connected to their loved ones by ringing a friend.

While one letter is staying active by doing an at home workout.

This Google message comes as the UK is set to have a weekend of warm weather.

But at the most recent No. 10 briefing, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock requested that people stay at home despite the weather forecast.

Mr Hancock recently completed seven days of self-isolation after contracting the coronavirus.

Currently there are 38,168 confirmed cases in the UK.

At the same briefing, Ruth May, England’s chief nursing officer, paid tribute to two nurses who died from the coronavirus.

She said: “Please stay home for them.

“They were one of us, they were one of my profession, of the NHS family.”

Area Nasreen, 36, spent several weeks in intensive care with the virus.

Aimee O’Rourke, 39, died at the hospital where she worked.

Ms May added: “I worry that there’s going to be more and I want to honour them today and recognise their service.
