Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: Will Dave Bautista return to the role of Drax for Vol 3?
In the fallout of James Gunn’s exit, Guardians of the Galaxy has been plunged into chaos.
As the cast released a letter of support, many thought Disney might reconsider their firing.
However, the mouse house has held firm on their decision to the disappointment of one of the franchise’s fan favourites.
Many are wondering if the movie will even be made after being put on an indefinite hiatus – and if so, with what script and starring whom?
Will Dave Bautista return to the role of Drax for Vol 3?
Dave Bautista may be one of the most outspoken Guardians cast members in support of James Gunn.
The actor, which plays Drax the Destroyer in the series, has not given a definitive answer on whether he’ll return for Vol 3.
During an interview on the Jonathan Ross show, he reiterated Marvel as putting the movie off and the sequel is “on hold indefinitely.”

He added: “To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.
“It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn,” Bautista said.
However, if the movie does go ahead, Drax will in all likelihood be along for the intergalactic ride.
At the beginning of August Bautista confirmed via Twitter that he is legally obligated to return to the role.
But Bautista was not one to pull any punches, adding it was “pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists.”
“GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG,” he tweeted.
The rest of the cast has spoken out in support of Gunn, though no one as fervently as Bautista.
On August 6, Bautista told ShortList he would quit Guardians Vol. 3 if the movie was made without the Gunn-penned script.
He said: “Where I’m at right now is that if Disney/Marvel don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.
“I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t,” Bautista said.
Bautista is an American actor, retired professional wrestler, mixed martial artist and bodybuilder whose career in acting took off with the role of Drax in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Since the 2014 original, Bautista has appeared in Blade Runner 2049 and James Bond: Spectre.
He also appears in Avengers: Infinity War and is set to appear in the untitled Avengers 4 as Drax.
