Halloween sequel: Will there be another Halloween movie?
Halloween has taken a huge slice out of the box office this weekend.
The newest addition to the franchise has also been received positively by critics and horror fans alike.
Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode in a final showdown with Michael Myers.
But this time she’s ready for him.
Will there be another Halloween movie?
The answer is a cautiously optimistic maybe.
Director David Gordon Green co-wrote the script with Danny McBride.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McBride confessed the pair had almost pitched two back-to-back sequels.
“This could come out, and everyone could hate us, and we’d never work again,” McBride said.
HALLOWEEN RELEASE DATE: WHEN DOES HALLOWEEN COME OUT IN CINEMAS?
The pair decided against it, instead placing their effort on the single sequel.
Halloween, the 2018 addition, features a post-credit scene which could very well hint at another Halloween movie.
Warning: spoilers ahead.
As a fire set by Strode ravages her home, Laurie feels safe in the knowledge that Myers, locked in her basement, is dead.
But the post-credit scene treats the audience to the unmistakable sound of Michael breathing.
HALLOWEEN RELEASE DATE, CAST, PLOT, AND MORE – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
If he is alive, it is likely there will be a second contemporary sequel.
McBride added: “We definitely have an idea of where we would go [with] this branch of the story and hopefully we get a chance to do it.”
Jamie Lee Curtis could return to Halloween once again as Laurie Strode.
The actress has appeared in many other Halloween sequels.
Those movies, however, were ignored by the current movie.
HALLOWEEN AGE RATING: WHAT IS THE HALLOWEEN 2018 MOVIE AGE RATING?
Whatever sequel comes to pass, it will likely pick up after the events of the fire.
At CinemaCon in April, Curtis described her excitement to return to the franchise.
“So now as a 59-year-old woman,” she said, “when they came to me and said they wanted me to play Laurie again, I heard what they said and said yes immediately.”
Curtis promised fans: “It’s going to scare the living sh*t out of all of you.”
Halloween is playing in cinemas now.
