Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie likely but faces MAJOR setback – Star speaks

The Harry Potter movies concluded in 2011, but the story has continued with a two-part stage play. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins 19 years on from the Battle of Hogwarts, following Harry, Ron and Hermione in their middle age.

And now that Warner Bros own the rights to the play, surely a film adaptation is in the works?

Right now the studio is focused on its five Fantastic Beasts prequels, which won’t conclude until halfway through the 2020s.

But in around a decade’s time, the original cast of the Harry Potter movies will be a believable age for a Cursed Child movie.

Recently Draco Malfoy star Tom Felton was asked about the possibility of the cast returning.

He said: “Whatever she [JK Rowling] wants, as far as I’m concerned, is right.

“I think [Cursed Child] would make a great movie. Maybe at some point, she’ll be ready to do that.

“I think it’s got a wonderful, long, theatrical run…it works brilliantly as a piece of theatre.

“I love the fact that there’s another aspect of the Harry Potter world which is completely different from everything else.”
