Is Avengers 4 runtime is THREE hours or not? How long is Infinity War sequel? New report

Avengers 4 has a lot of ground to cover.

The movie is bringing home the three-phase cycle of 21 films and setting up a Phase Four which is promised to be an entirely new game altogether.

Not only that, it has to somehow bring back to life all those who died in The Snap or at least bring them back onto the screen, even if they are not returned to life in the traditional sense, with numeorius rumours of alternate timelines, dimensions or realities

So it makes perfect sense that new leaks claim the movie will be three hours long.

Except that it won’t be.

Jeremy Conrad at MCUCosmic says: “Avengers 4 has just completed its reshoots, and while the Russo Brothers do have an assembly cut of the shot footage that’s around three hours long; that’s not what the final run time of the movie will be.

“The Russo Brothers previously confirmed that the movie will not be complete until some time in March, that means that there’s no final cut or picture lock yet; and thus no final run time. Once the movie is complete with all post-production and editing (which still may need some minor pickup shots); then it’ll have a final run time. That will go public when theaters receive the run time to program their ticketing systems, which will be sometime towards the end of March or early April.”

Even so, Joe Russo himself recently confirmed it will be close to three hours.

Russo told Collider: “I’ll say it could easily be a three-hour film.

“But I think that, you know, we’re very hard on the material. We like it to play at a certain pace… I’m sure that we’ll squeeze it.

“We have a whole year of work left on that movie. I do think it will be longer than Avengers 3, but it’s clearly impossible to say.”

Infinity War clocked in at 149 minutes so Avengers 4 will be well over two and a half hours. However, excited fans should also remember one very important thing about runtimes.

Official runtimes actually include the end credits, which can often extend to many minutes. The final Lord of the Rings film had nine and a half minutes of rolling credits.

Marvel fans, of course, are used to sitting through endless minutes of credits waiting for mid and end credit scenes.
