IT Chapter 2: Pennywise will be even more ‘SHOCKING’ in horror sequel, actor reveals

Skarsgard earned praise for his role as the iconic monster in the first It film, which went down a storm in 2017.

With the sequel due for release in September of this year, and a trailer expected to drop today, Skarsgard has spoken about how Pennywise has evolved.

“There’s a lot to explore,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“You can change him or make him whackier, but he’s not really bound to continuity in the sense that a normal character would be.

“We can explore his unpredictability now that we’ve established the character for the audience.

“We can still sort of shock them.”

The actor had also told the publication: “He’s been doing this forever really, so he doesn’t change in the sense that you would look differently.

“He looks however he wants to look for any particular prey at the time, but I do think there’s a change.

At the end of the first film, Pennywise experienced fear himself for the first time.

“He’s inflicted fear on his prey, and he’s very focused on fear, but he’s never experienced it himself,” he said.

“Now he’s experienced something that he has been inflicting on others and… there’s a shift leading into the second movie.”

Jessica Chastain recently revealed that the film will break a record for the most amount of fake blood in one sequence.

She told Jimmy Fallon: “I’m gonna say something and I think I’m gonna be in trouble, but I’m gonna do it!

“It might be a spoiler, but in the movie there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film, in a scene.

“And I’ll tell you the next day I was pulling blood out of my eyeballs – fake blood!”

It: Chapter 2 is out on September 6.
