It Chapter Two ending EXPLAINED: What happened to Pennywise and Losers Club?
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR IT CHAPTER TWO.
The almost three-hour conclusion to 2017’s It saw a thrilling third act. The adult Losers Club descended into Derry’s sewers to find Pennywise in his layer where he rests 27 years at a time.
Taking the form of a giant spider, but maintain his Dancing Clown head, It attempted to kill the group as they tried to finish him off.
However, in the scuffle Eddie was killed as Bill, Bev, Ben, Richie and Mike realised how they could defeat Pennywise.
Just as It fed off their fear, they realised they could destroy the monster if it transformed to a much smaller size.
So the remaining Losers began throwing insults at the creature to literally belittle it until it was nothing more than a deflated clown face.
Mike then reached into Pennywise’s chest, removing his beating heart as the Losers crushed it in their palms togethers.
It, having finally be destroyed, then turned to ash and faded away, much like the snapped characters in Avengers Infinity War.
Having survived the ordeal, the adult Losers’ scars disappeared magically.

Presumably, this was because the blood oath on returning to Derry if It came back had been met.
As for why their scars literally disappeared, this probably symbolises the lifting of the curse that is Pennywise on the town.
Meanwhile, Beverly ended up in a relationship with Ben instead of Bill, and Richie added the E to his old “R+” romance graffiti implied that he was always in love with Eddie.
Additionally, the Losers all now remembered the events compared to before when most of them had forgotten their adventure in the summer of 1989 until Mike called them.
Before the film ended, all the Losers received a letter from Stanley, the member of the gang who died by suicide at the start of the film.
Stanley revealed that he didn’t take his life just because he could face coming back, but because he knew the Losers needed to be united in order to defeat Pennywise and so as to avoid the future Bev saw where they all died.
From Stanley’s point of view, he wouldn’t have been “all in” if he had returned to Derry, so “removed himself” from needing to take his own life and hoping the Losers would be strong enough to beat It without him.
While Pennywise is definitely dead and Stephen King’s It novel has been fully adapted, a spin-off is still possible.
According to director Andy Muschietti, a prequel from another period of the clown’s attacks could be made into a movie.
It: Chapter Two is out now.
