IT Chapter Two runtime and HUGE box office: How long is IT2? How much money will it make?

The first movie smashed every Hollywood record. Not only did it comfortably become the biggest horror movie in film history, but it also became one of the biggest films of the year. Industry analysts are already predicting a massive opening weekend for the sequel in September. But will it make as much as the first? One of the main reasons it may not is also one of the main reasons it will thrill fans, because the second part of the book adaptation is much longer.

The first film came out in 2017 and clocked in at 135 minutes. It banked $123miilion in the US on its opening weekend and went on to a staggering $700 million worldwide.

Official lists place The Sixth Sense in second on $673 million, although whether it is a true horror in the purest sense is debatable.

Variety in the US is reporting that the early predictions for IT CHapter 2 range from $95 to $110 million. Deadline, however, is reporting the movie could take over $120million.

One thing which could hold it back slightly is the run-time.

IT Chapter Two is clocking in at 169 minutes.

This could potentially affect box office takes if cinemas area le to schedule fewer screenings. Then again, it depends on how many screens the film opens on.

Anticipating the demand, most cinemas allocated an unprecedented number of screens for the recent Avengers Endgame, which ran for a whopping 181 minutes.

The sequel seems unsinkable. Director Andres Muschietti is returning, alongside Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise and the full line-up of the younger Losers Club.

They are matched by a stellar array of actors as their grown-up counterparts, including James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain.

The sequel will wrap up the storyline from the 1986 novel, which is similarly split into two time periods, 27 years apart.
