James Bond 25: Daniel Craig 007 movie using iconic location from THIS classic TV show?

The as-yet-untitled film – Daniel Craig’s last in the 007 role – is said to be heading to the Scottish Highlands as production continues.

According to BBC News, exact locations include the beautiful Ardverikie House, near Newtonmore in the Cairngorms.

This was used for the majestic Glenbogle in the BBC’s turn-of-the-century drama Monarch of the Glen.

Broadcast from 2000 to 2005, the show starred Alastair Mackenzie as a man called back to his Highland home to be by the side of his dying father Hector – played by Richard Briers.

He finds when he arrives that Hector is very much alive and well, and he’s gradually tempted to stay put and help his home get out of a sticky financial situation.

It’s not known what role Ardverikie House will play in Bond 25, but the franchise is no stranger to the country – in fact, some climactic scenes from 2012’s Skyfall were also shot north of the border.

Speaking to the BBC, Highland Council’s film office did not directly reference Bond 25, but said it helps to accommodate a number of productions on a regular basis.

“As well as providing an immediate benefit during filming, many of these productions and, most notably, successful movies or well-known TV series also provide a showcase for the area that brings further tourism benefits,” they said.

Bond 25 has had an eventful production period so far: its original director, Danny Boyle, departed last summer, to be replaced by Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Production finally started in April after multiple delays, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing since then.

Daniel Craig sustained an ankle injury that temporarily disrupted scheduling, and Fukunaga had to take to Instagram to deny reports of his own lateness on set.

In more exciting news, it was claimed over the weekend that – following Bond’s retirement as 007 at the end of 2015’s Spectre – he has been replaced in the iconic position by new character Nomi, played by Lashana Lynch.

The plot twist was allegedly the work of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was believed to have been hired to help on the script at the request of Craig himself.

This is believed to be the actor’s final outing as Bond – and Richard Madden is still the bookies’ favourite to take over.

Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba remain close behind, though it’s safe to say we’re still a very long way off any kind of announcement on that front.

Bond 25 is out on April 8, 2020.
