James Bond 25 SHOCK: ‘Ex-director Danny Boyle wanted to KILL off Daniel Craig’s 007’

Last year the Oscar-winning director Boyle left James Bond 25 over “creative differences.” While Cary Fukunaga has taken over the project with a new script to Boyle’s Trainspotting scribe John Hodge, the real reason Boyle quit may have come to light. Allegedly the director wanted to kill off Craig’s Bond for the 51-year-old star’s fifth and final outing. A Hollywood source told Daily Star: “Boyle thought that killing 007 would be a brilliant way to pave the way for introducing a new Bond.”

The Sun reported: “Daniel Craig… and producer Barbara Broccoli are believed to have wanted to Bond to die in a ‘spectacular finale’, according to sources.

“But Oscar-winner Boyle, 61, refused to kill off the secret agent, labelling the idea ‘ridiculous.'”

While there’s a conflict of who was in favour of what, it still sounds feasible that some involved in Bond 25 wanted Bond to be killed off – after all it’s never been done before.

Back in May last year, Express.co.uk explored the idea of Craig’s 007 dying in the new film.

At the time an alleged insider claimed Bond 25 was going to be more like Logan, in which a haggard Wolverine was killed off after years in the X-Men franchise.

Plus, when considering how to conclude the running narrative across Craig’s movies, surely having his 007 die would be perfect for one jaw-dropping finale?

After all, they killed Judi Dench’s M off in Skyfall didn’t they?

Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas on April 8, 2020.
