James Bond: Daniel Craig new movie Knives Out starts shoot with Star Wars director – LOOK

Before Danny Boyle quit as director of Bond 25, Craig was set to start shooting his final James Bond movie on December 3.

However, after the Oscar-winning filmmaker quit over “creative differences”, he suddenly signed on for Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out.

It’s not entirely clear if he took the job on because Bond 25 would be delayed until March 2019.

After all, there seemed to be enough time before December for him to complete shooting Knives Out.

Whatever the case, Craig will now have plenty of time to rest up and prepare before Bond 25 starts shooting with new director Cary Fukunaga in March.

Yesterday Johnson shared the first set photo from Knives Out, with the clapper board to indicate the shoot had begun.

Writing on Twitter, the director commented: “Aaaaaaaaaaand we’re off.”

It’s unknown if Craig was there for the film’s first scenes.

An Agatha Christie-style thriller, Knives Out is also written by Johnson.

His plot and characters are under-wraps but Craig, who plays the detective, is joined by a star-studded cast.

Knives Out includes Captain America star Chris Evans, The Shape of Water’s Michael Shannon, Halloween’s Jamie Lee Curtis and Hereditary’s Toni Collette.

Lakeith Stanfield, Ana de Armas and Don Johnson also feature in the murder mystery.

On Craig’s casting, Johnson said: “I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with him and as I worked on the script, trying to get it right, Ram and I were wringing our hands over who could be the detective.

“Then, serendipitously, we heard Daniel might have a small window, and it worked out.

“He’s an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective, and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot.”

Knives Out’s release date will likely release in late 2019.
