James Bond: 'Nerve-racking call' to delay No Time To Die AGAIN to 2021 'in consideration'

After a troubled production with a director and writer leaving, injuries and set accidents, is now struggling to get released. Originally set to hit cinemas late last year, the new movie was then moved to Valentine’s Day and then delayed again until April. But then in March concerns over the coronavirus pandemic saw Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 pushed all the way back to November this year.

However, with worries of a second wave affecting cinemas reopening and people being wary to go even that late in the year, those at the top are allegedly considering another delay into 2021.

According to Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, who is often very reliable on Bond news, some studio executives are considering pushing No Time To Die back to next year.

It would certainly be quite the financial gamble, as delayed release dates in 2021 claimed by other studios have already taken most of the strategic opening weekends where they hope not to lose box office to a rival.

Whatever, happens though, No Time To Die won’t be heading to video-on-demand instead of the cinema.

The new James Bond movie is being distributed internationally by Universal, who recently said they intend to release their movies on-demand simultaneously or close to their cinematic debuts.

The business strategy move was announced following the success of Trolls World Tour, which skipped the cinema entirely due to the pandemic.

As a result, the owners of both Odeon and Cineworld have said they will not show movies made by Universal if they hold to this new plan.

This could theoretically mean a severely limited cinematic release for No Time To Die, regardless of when it lands.
