James Bond star Naomie Harris reveals smouldering Daniel Craig moment WASN’T in script
James Bond actress Naomie Harris, 43, who has played Eve Moneypenny in the 007 franchise since Skyfall in 2012, looked back at the first scene she ever shot with Daniel Craig, 51, in a new video for British GQ.
On camera, the star watched the clip of herself as Moneypenny, arriving in Macau, where Bond was stationed, to deliver an update.
“I’m watching the shaving scene from Skyfall,” she explained. “It’s been seven years since I’ve watched this, so I’m a bit nervous about it.
“It was not shot in Macau. It was actually shot in Pinewood studios on one of the backlots,” Harris revealed. “So, it’s a bit of a lie, this whole Macau thing.
She went on to say the Bond crew did aerial shots in Macau, China, but that the cast never went out there to film.
“There’s hunky Daniel, shaving away,” she narrated, as a shirtless Bond appeared on screen, shaving in the mirror with a cut throat razor.
As the scene progressed, Harris recalled how she had to learn how to use there razor in order too be able to shoot the scene where her character kneels down and takes over from Bond.
After being taught how, she said she used to practise on members of the crew.
“I used to say, ‘Does anybody fancy a shave?’” she said. “Not many people volunteered, surprisingly.”
The Skyfall star also admitted Craig was brave to allow her near his neck and face with the blade because she was so nervous about her first scene for James Bond that her hands were shaking.
A thoughtful Craig tried to reassure her, she said, but she was still “terrified”.
The clip from the movie continued to play, the sexual tension of the scene mounting as Bond and Moneypenny flirted.
Harris then watched as Bond deftly started to unbutton Moneypenny’s top, before her character glanced down and looked back at him, forcing his chin up to continue with his shave.
“That was not in the script, by the way,” she spilled, smiling. “Him unbuttoning my blouse.”
Addressing the implied raciness of the scene, which ends before viewers can know what happened between the two, Harris said: “People for ever more have been asking, ‘Did they? Didn’t they?’
“I can’t say. I think it’s better to leave it up to the imagination,” she teased.
Elsewhere, Harris is reprising her role in the new Bond movie: No Time to Die.
She will be back alongside Craig for his last outing at 007.
Details about Craig’s upcoming fifth Bond film are few and far between as bosses are keeping information tightly under wraps.
What is known, however, is that Ana de Armas, 31, Rami Malek, 38, Léa Seydoux, 34, Lashana Lynch, 31, and Christoph Waltz, 63, will all be making appearances.
No Time to Die arrives in UK cinemas April 3 2020.
