James Bond theme: Billie Eilish song confirms BETRAYAL – Is plot set for major TWIST?
James Bond’s Daniel Craig era will come to an end in No Time To Die this spring as he bows out of the franchise after 14 years and five movies. As usual, details about the plot have been kept largely under wraps, with just a brief synopsis and cryptic trailers giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. However, the lyrics to Billie Eilish’s theme song of the same title might unveil some major revelations.
The new single, No Time To Die, hints at a betrayal previously alluded to in the first trailer.
“I should have known / I’d leave alone / Just goes to show / That the blood you bleed is just the blood you owe,” the lyrics begin, appearing to foreshadow a break-up between Bond and his new love, Madeleine Swann (played by Lea Seydoux).
Eilish goes on to croon: “Was I stupid to love you? / Was I reckless to help? / Was it obvious to everybody else?
“That I’d fallen for a lie / You were never on my side / Fool me once, fool me twice / Are you death or paradise?”
The lyrics seem to confirm Swann, the daughter of SPECTRE operative Mr White, who worked for Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) for many years, betrays 007 after they joined forces to take down the villain in the last film, Spectre.
No Time To Die will no doubt delve into Swann’s murky past, the trailer having teased a link between her and the new baddie, Safin (Rami Malek).
In the first clip released by Eon productions back in December, Bond and Swann are seen being chased by gun-wielding enemies.
Frantic, she asks him: “Why would I betray you?”
“We all have our secrets,” he growls. “We just didn’t get to yours yet.”
It’s clear 007 is growing suspicious of his lover and a snippet of a later scene in MI6 headquarters, where the pair come face-to-face in the corridor in a tense, awkward moment, does nothing to dispel speculation their relationship doesn’t make it amid the doubts.
Photos of Malek filming scenes as the Safin on location last year also revealed a connection between his character and Swann.
Bond’s new nemesis, wearing a broken mask which half concealed his face, was seen stalking through a snowy landscape, chasing a younger version of Swann in what will presumably serve as a flashback.

In the trailer, she could be seen unboxing that same shattered mask — but has she always had it in her possession or has it been sent by Safin as a message?
Returning to the lyrics for Eilish’s No Time To Die, it’s possible the lyrics are written in the first person from the perspective of Bond.
Casting back to Skyfall, when the opening credits play as Bond tumbles down through the water — seemingly going to drown — as Adele’s theme song plays dramatically, if Eilish’s track comes at a similar juncture in No Time To Die, the movie could be set for a dramatic change of direction in the first few minutes of the film.
The lyrics seem to fit with falling right after Bond discovers, correctly or incorrectly, that Swann is not on his side.
