James Bond: What does For Your Eyes Only 'Bond Girl' Carole Bouquet look like now?
She was only 23 when the 007 movie, in which she starred as Melina Havelock, was released – and now, as she nears her 60th birthday this summer, she looks as good as ever.
The French star is something of a reluctant icon in her homeland, although her acting work internationally has not been so prominent in recent years.
Still, she’s been very busy in France, appearing in numerous films and TV series.
Between 2014 and 2016 she starred in Spin, and has filmed a role in TV mini-series The Mantis, a thriller in which she takes the lead.
In 2004, she had a guest role in Sex and the City as Juliet, and she’s recently completed work on a new film called Numéro Une.
When she was snapped at Cannes this year, she looked outstanding in a simple but sophisticated white dress with floral lining.
Speaking to The Independent in 2008, she said simply “No fun” about the movie for which she is perhaps best known.
Speaking to an interview for Back Stage who apologised for not seeing more of her work, she admitted: “That’s normal. I know, it’s the same story everywhere in the world. People have to identify with their own stories, with their own lives, so a movie belongs to a country and to a culture.
“Sometimes we can share, but it’s very rare.”
She added: “The plan was absolutely not to be in America. I knew that I had to go back to my own country and speak my own language if I wanted to get better and if I wanted to get good parts, because it is extremely difficult to act in a foreign language or to be good in a foreign language.
“If you are completely bilingual from the beginning, that’s something else. But otherwise you have to translate, which is a very difficult thing to do.”
