Jamie Dornan reveals how Fifty Shades Freed Christian Grey role led to THIS surprise move

It’s an unexpected gig for an actor whose CV includes jobs such as The Fall and the sex scene-loaded Fifty Shades of Grey franchise – which ended with Fifty Shades Freed earlier this year.

But that, it seems, is precisely why he has decided to opt for a family animation next.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, he indicated that characters such as Christian Grey were unsuitable for his kids to see.

“I’ve played a lot of creepy characters so my kids can’t watch anything I’d done so I basically begged Universal to give me a part,” he admitted.

“I loved it and it was an amazing experience, but doing voice over made me very uncomfortable.”

He also told the story of a fan who had a very inappropriate request.

“There are mad, mad people everywhere that ask for inappropriate things,” he joked.

“I was playing golf in Scotland a couple of years ago and a woman asked me to sign her breasts – ‘Jamie’ on one and ‘Dornan’ on the other.

“I didn’t do it because I worried about what the picture of me doing it would look like!”

Asked if the fandom has died down, he admitted that he has already moved on from the trilogy.

“I hope so! I’ve kind of forgotten. That’s the best way to deal with it,” he reasoned.

His former co-star Dakota Johnson recently opened up on her time in the franchise, admitting it was “extremely” difficult to adjust after the behind-the-scenes troubles between the first and second movie.

Sam Taylor-Johnson, who helmed Fifty Shades of Grey, clashed with author EL James and did not return to direct the two sequels.

“I signed up to a film with a Patrick Marber screenplay, directed by Sam, and it just turned into something completely different,” she told The Times.

“It did exactly what it was supposed to do, and turned out great, but it shape-shifted in the night.

“Shooting two films back to back, where the majority is the same, over and over, did get a little bit tedious.

“It became, ‘how are we going to make this goddamn sex scene better than the other ones?’ There’s only so much you can do when the film is rated R.

“It was tricky. But it was a challenge I’m not ashamed of and I’m infinitely grateful to… I learned so much about my personal resilience.”
