Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle matched their outfits yesterday for surprising reason

The Duchesses’ matching style sent everyone into a frenzy, but their co-ordination was reportedly on purpose.

According to Vanity Fair, a royal source claimed Meghan deliberately wore a flowing dress so her baby bump didn’t become the headline story.

Their source claimed: “Given that Meghan and Kate were carrying out engagements on the same day, I imagine some thought went into their outfits.

“I think it’s probably fair to say that Meghan’s outfit was carefully planned so that she didn’t take attention away from what either of them were doing by showing off her baby bump.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Kensington Palace to provide a comment.

Meghan’s dress was a Club Monaco number, while Kate’s jacket and skirt were by Paule Ka and an outfit she has worn twice before.

She first wore the two-piece in 2012 for a royal engagement at Middle Temple in London.

When she wore the festive red suit six years ago, Kate teamed it with a pattered black blouse and wore her hair in bouncy curls around her shoulders.

This time around, the Duchess let her outfit do all the talking as she swept her brunette locks off of her face in a voluminous ponytail.

Catherine very rarely wears her hair up, but this time opted to do so by keeping her tresses in a casual side parting and neat pony.

She completed her elegant look with a pair of pointed suede black heels with a comfortable chunky heel and a small clutch bag to match.

Meanwhile, Meghan wore a loose-fitting knee-length dress, revealing just a glimpse of her baby bump from beneath her jacket.

Meghan’s coat may have matched her dress, but the burgundy stopped there as she paired the look with statement black boots with a killer pointed toe.

And the Duchesses’ even matched with their hairstyles, as Meghan too had rocked a low ponytail that same morning.

It is expected in the coming months that Meghan, Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry will make more solo engagements as the brothers divide their offices to focus on their individual projects.
