Kate Middleton vs Queen Letizia of Spain: Which royal wins style crown at Order of Garter?
Kate Middleton and Queen Letizia of Spain went head to head in the style stakes today.
The stunning women, both married to royal men, opted for rather similar looks for the day.
Former journalist Queen Letizia is married to King Felipe of Spain.
The couple shared a carriage with Kate and Prince William, 36, at the Order of the Garter event today in London.
So, what did the two women decide to dress in for the annual royal event?
Kate Middleton wore a monochrome look from a favourite designer of her’s Catherine Walker.
The London-based designer often creates looks for members of the British Royal Family.
The “Liza” coatdress from the brand was inspired by a retro look, the company revealed. The website says of the piece: “A contemporary take on a ’50’s look, this coatdress in ivory wool crepe has copped jacket ‘panels’ edged in fine black lace.”
Kate accessorised with a black hat, black bag and pair of black Prada pumps.
She also wore earrings that Princess Diana wore for her wedding day to Prince Charles.
Queen Letizia wore a monochrome look too, this time from Cherubina.
Like The Duchess of Cambridge she wore black headwear – in the shape of a fascinator with a net.
She wore a black clutch bag with black Prada court shoes. She added large pearl earrings too.
However, Letizia’s dress had a more feminine film, cut from silk with a softer print. It had cuff sleeves and was fitted on the waist.
Queen Maxima also attended the event as her husband was honoured at the event.
She wore a blush pink outfit for the occasion.

Career
Letizia was already famous in her native Spain thanks to a career as a TV presenter and journalist.
She even won an award for best Spanish journalist under 30 in 2002, just before she met King Felipe.
Wedding
Felipe and Letizia Ortiz, as she was called then, wed in 2004.
She wore a long-sleeved wedding dress with a 15 foot train by Manuel Pertegaz.
As is custom with royal weddings, Letizia wore a tiara. Her diamond and platinum Prussian tiara is a German imperial heirloom created in 1913 by Koch for Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia’s wedding to Prince Ernst August.
Family
Letizia is the eldest of three daughters, with her middle sister tragically taking her own life in 2007.
Now, Letizia has two daughters, Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia of Spain. She is a hands on mum, taking the children to school and enjoying countless family holidays with them.
Divorce
Letizia has been married before, wedding Alfonso Guerrero, a teacher, in 1998.
However she did not require an annulment before her roman-catholic marriage to then Prince Felipe in 2004 as her marriage to Guerrero was a civil ceremony.
Plastic surgery
In 2008, Letizia underwent surgery on her nose to correct a respiratory problem, the Spanish palace confirmed at the time.
