Kate Middleton, 37, smiled as she walked in to Wimbledon with tennis officials. The Duchess of Cambridge made a nod to her surroundings in a classic white summer dress – with white being the colour worn by tennis players at tournaments around the world. Mum-of-three Kate showed off her willowy figure in the dress, white had a classic 1940s silhouette. A black leather belt showed off her trim waist, and she wore a bow pin in the Wimbledon colours on her lapel.

Kate carried a £1260 Alexander McQueen small Wicca bag in one hand.

Gold Catherine Zoraida fern hoop earrings, £150 added a touch of glamour to the look. A huge citrine ring – which Kate was first seen wearing in 2008 – could also be seen on her finger.

Keeping her eyes shaded from the sun, Kate wore a pair of classic black Ray Ban sunglasses.

A pair of black chunky heel court shoes from Gianvito Rossi completed the look.

Her famous long brown locks were in full display, as Kate wore them in loose, tumbling curls over her shoulders.

However, the Duchess chose to keep her makeup simple, opting for light mascara and a light pink lipstick.

Kate has been a fan of tennis for many years, and made her first visit to Wimbledon as the Duchess of Cambridge back in 2011 along with her new husband Prince William.

In 2013, after years of playing tennis herself and attending matches with her family, the Duchess of Cambridge became an honorary member of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club – which stages Wimbledon – and was made a patron of the club three years later.

The tennis enthusiast took over the role from the Queen, who was the previous royal patron.

Over the years, the Duchess of Cambridge has been seen in the Royal Box at Wimbledon in an array of stylish ensembles, however, she was first photographed at the summer event in 2007, in the crowds with a friend.

Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, 65, is also a huge tennis fan and attends Wimbledon each year.

The former flight attendant turned businesswoman, who is also mum to the Duchess’ siblings Pippa Middleton, 35, and James Middleton, 32, is always impeccably dressed for the annual sporting tournament which takes place during the summer.

She regularly attends matches at the prestigious event, which is thought to be the oldest tennis tournament in the world, with her husband of 19 years Michael Middleton.

Kate’s father, who turned 70 last weekend, frequently wears a suit for the occasion, but it’s Carole’s stylish looks which steal the show.

Carole is almost certain to attend this year’s sporting event – although she has yet to be seen in Wimbledon.

How did Kate Middleton become a royal?

Early life

Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.

She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million. Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.

Education

Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.

After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.

For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.

Relationship with Prince William

Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.

In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university. The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.

Wedding

Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.

On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live. Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.

Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
