The Official Charts Company have confirmed that the soundtrack remains the country’s best-selling release for the second week running.

After debuting at No4 two weeks ago, the record – featuring the cast’s covers of ABBA gems – has ascended to, and stayed at, the Number One spot.

This week it has beaten The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack by around 15,000 combined physical, digital and streaming-equivalent sales.

The latter album has had several stints at No1 and become a mainstay at the top of the charts since its release way back in December last year.

Further down the chart, the soundtrack to the first Mamma Mia movie holds on at No5, with the entire Top 5 completely static compared to last week.

That means Drake’s Scorpion remains at No3 and George Ezra’s Staying At Tamara’s is stuck at No4. Elsewhere, ABBA’s Gold rises a place to No6.

The highest new entry comes from Halestorm and their opus Vicious, which arrives at No8.

Catherine McGrath debuts at No13 with Talk of This Town, Daughtry are in at No14 with Cage To Rattle, and All Saints start at No15 with Testament.

Over on the singles chart, Drake is No1 for a third week running with In My Feelings, leaving George Ezra at No2 with Shotgun once again.

Jonas Blue featuring Jack & Jack remain at No3 with Rise, and the highest new entry comes at No4 from DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo with No Brainer.

At No5, 5 Seconds of Summer slip one place with Young Blood.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has also continued to enjoy success at the box office, despite competition from Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Last weekend it was noted that its holdover (second week gross compared to first week gross) was fairly strong in the UK compared to territories such as the US, where its takings dropped by more than 50%.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is out now.
