Man Utd chief Ed Woodward rejects Atletico Madrid swap deal offer for Nemanja Matic
Manchester United have reportedly rejected a swap deal offer from Atletico Madrid for out of favour midfielder Nemanja Matic. Matic is the subject of plenty of transfer speculation with Inter Milan also keen on the former Chelsea star.
Matic has made just five Premier League appearances for United this season, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring the likes of Fred and Andreas Pereira.
Solskjaer is believed to be keen to strengthen his squad this month with midfield a priority.
And even though Matic may depart, transfer expert Duncan Castles claims that United chief Ed Woodward has rejected a swap deal offer from La Liga giants Atletico.
Speaking on the Reach PLC Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: “I’m told they have had offers in this window from both Inter and Atletico Madrid, both of which have been rejected by Manchester United.

Man Utd transfer news: Nemanja Matic could leave Old Trafford this month
“The offer from Atletico was a swap deal involving their Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera, who is the wrong end of his 20s and not entirely surprising that United rejected that one.”
Matic is out of contract in the summer and United could cash in on him this month.
And Matic himself recently admitted he is unsure of where his future lies.
“I don’t know what to say,” he said. “I have a contract for another six months, we’ll see in January what’s going to happen.
“Will I extend the contract or try to find something else?
“United have some option to extend my contract, but we will see if the plans of the club match my plans.
“I couldn’t say anything more because I don’t really know either.”
United have previously been linked with a move for Atletico star Hector Herrera, though he would go against Solskjaer’s recent philosophy.
Man Utd transfer news: Ed Woodward has been quiet so far this month
The Norwegian has been keen to sign young players though he has kept his cards close to his chest regarding potential transfers.
“We’ve still got the same thoughts we had a month ago,” said Solskajer, who was open about his desire to bring in one or two players at the beginning of the month.
“We’ve got the players we have, we’re working with the ones we have and, if something happens, we’ll tell you.
“I can’t say yes or no [to players coming or going] but I wouldn’t expect many ins and outs.”
