Marks & Spencer row: Fury as M&S sell hand sanitiser for £11.50 a bottle

Marks & Spencer is selling hand sanitiser for hugely inflated prices. It is more than double the cost of sanitiser in other places.

“I wonder if M&S will feel similar pressure.”

Another called the move “despicable” and another wrote “I smell greed.”

“@marksandspencer I expect this behaviour from lesser companies, but thought better of you?” another said.

One joked: “Not just any hand sanitisers, these are M&S hand sanitisers…”

It comes after the hand sanitiser shortage caused bottles to sell for up to £40 on eBay. 

In March the outbreak of the coronavirus was causing people around the world to panic buy the hand gel.

Lidl’s Cien hand gel, 40p in stores, was being sold for £39.99 for 50ml.

Dettol sanitiser was being sold, with 150ml listed for £69.99. The product usually costs around £1.80.
